Finding your hardware address: Amazon Echo, Fire TV

You must register your Amazon device (Echo, Echo Dot, Fire TV, etc.)'s hardware address before it can communicate over the Stanford Residences network.  Here's how to find it:

AMAZON ECHO/ECHO DOT

• Download the Amazon Alexa app to your smartphone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account.
• Plug in the Echo using the included power adapter.
• Connect to the wireless network broadcasted by your echo.
Note: Broadcasting a network from your Echo is only allowed during setup. Broadcasting a network from your Echo after setup is a violation of Stanford's Acceptable Use policies.

AMAZON FIRE TV

1. From the Home screen, press Menu.

2. Select Settings.

3. The Wi-Fi MAC Address is located toward the bottom of the screen in the Device Info section.

Once you've located the hardware address for your device, you can register it following the instructions for Connecting your streaming media player.
