What is CS 1C?

CS 1C: Introduction to Computing at Stanford

CS 1C "Introduction to Computing at Stanford", is a one-unit course available in Fall quarter for first-year Stanford students.  It is taught inside the residence of houses with first year students. That house's Resident Computer Consultant(s) teach the course directly. Occasionally RCCs from two or more houses will team up and teach the course together. The course typically starts in Week Two, and meets for eight consecutive weeks. Each lecture has a related assignment and there is a Final Project for the course.

This course is an excellent way to learn about Stanford's computing environment and digital resources in a low-key, engaging environment. The course also covers computer maintenance and security, Internet privacy, digital citizenship, and copyright law. Not a programming course.
