How to connect to a wired network

All Stanford residences, as well as most libraries on campus, offer users the ability to connect to Stanford's networks using a wired connection. 


First, make sure your computer is registered for use on the Stanford network. If you have not done so, you can complete the process at

Locate your machine's ethernet port. It should resemble this:


If your machine does not have an ethernet port, you can use an adapter to plug the ethernet cable into your computer. 

Plug the ethernet cable into your computer.

Locate the TSO port you would like to use. Typically, these resemble the ethernet port on your computer, but are located on the walls or floor of your building. 

Plug the other end of your ethernet cable into the TSO port.

You should be good to go!
