Each computer in a residence that is properly registered will be automatically assigned a static IP address without any additional configuration of your computer required. The address will stay the same while your machine is in its original location but will change to a dynamic address that is part of whatever network is present when you go to a different building, location, etc.
DO NOT CONFIGURE YOUR MACHINE TO DISABLE DHCP OR STATICALLY ASSIGN IP
Keys here are that your computer will remain configured to automatically receive its IP through DHCP, and will automatically receive a consistent IP address at your original assigned location. When you permanently move to a new location you may update your registration for the new location to again be assigned a static IP at the new location.
