On Aug. 17, “Stanford Residences” will no longer appear as an available wireless network in the residence halls. Instead, students should select “Stanford” from the list of available wireless networks. “Stanford” is the primary wireless network used for wireless access throughout the main campus.
Streamlining network access
Based on feedback from students, University IT is consolidating the “Stanford” and “Stanford Residences” SSIDs. When that happens, students will only have to join a single network, “Stanford" - whether they’re in the residence halls or other areas of campus.
For some devices such as smart speakers, etc., this may require you to disconnect the device from the network and re-connect it for it to re-connect to the "Stanford" network.
